2013 Year in Review - Cookies

As promised... Here is my 2013 Year in Review - Cookie Edition.

It was such a busy year that I made just a handful of cookies.

#1: Autumn Fall Cookies with Raspberry Jelly Centers
These were our favorites last year. Although time consuming, they are SO delicious.
Used my 'go to' Sugar Cookie Recipe, Raspberry Jam, and Powdered Sugar

#2: Chocolate Crinkle Cookies with Powdered Sugar East Design
Needed something quick and Festive and this did the trick... Love these!!!

#3: Pascal from "Tangled" cookies used as cupcake toppers
For a dear friend's daughter's birthday. The toppers were a surprise and she LOVED                 them!

#4: Mickey Mouse Oreo Cookies
These were additions to my nephew's birthday party. Instead of labor-intensive                         decorated cookies in the goodie bags, i offered these to my sister as an alternative.

#5: Baptism Monogrammed Cookies for a friend's baby
I love the simple design of the cookies. So classic

#6: Chocolate Mint M&M cookies....
Wow, that was a mouthful. And, yes, I made these about 3 times more... YUM!

#7: Baby Simba Cave Painting Cookies
These were for my dear friend's son's birthday. They were hand painted, as my airbrush
was clogged and I needed to think quick to make this look like the movie.

#8: Mickey First Birthday Cookie Platter
For my nephew's First Birthday Celebration. The variety was nice and the colors so
      Vibrant!

Thanks for taking a look at what I made last year....

Looking forward to making more wonderful creations this year....

Special Crosses

While at CookieCon, I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friendly with one of the presenters. Her name is Lisa from http://thebearfootbaker.com/ and she is the sweetest, nicest, sweetest person ever ... I think I said sweetest already.

Lisa gave an amazing presentation about using an airbrush machine for cookies. I know for a fact that many women in the room, like me, were completely intimidated by the airbrush machine, but Lisa's presentation was user friendly and completely amazing and took the fear right out of making beautiful cookies with this machine and this technique.

She was sweet enough to, literally, hang out with us gals for most of the evening talking about cookie theology (if that actually exists) and how we, as cookie artists, need to value our hard work.  Her information was so helpful and it made me feel better knowing that we all started in the same place when it comes to decorating.

I told you she was amazing, right?

When I got home, I was lucky enough to find a SUPER sale online for a Duff airbrush. I ordered it and was very excited to start using it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to the story about the Cross Cookies. My sister and my brother-in-law dedicated my niece and nephew, to their church, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful ceremony and my niece and nephew looked beautiful. As a special addition, I made cookies in the shape of the cross and I airbrushed the pink and sky blue Amerimist colors on them when the cookies dried.

I love the affect the airbrush made on the cookies.

I'm so grateful to have been present for Lisa's airbrush demo and for having the opportunity to use an airbrush machine at CookieCon. Her information was helpful and completely invaluable. She was patient with us and allowed me to ask a million questions.

Thanks Lisa!!!!!

Baby Shower Desserts and Table

My sister and brother in law are having a second baby and I was so thrilled when my sister asked if I would make some special desserts for her upcoming 'Baby Sprinkle'.

Planning started and with the wonders of modern technology, I was able to make my first attempt at a Dessert Table confidently. I was secretly up some nights worried about cupcakes and cake plates, but, shhhh, that'll be our little secret.

From left to right: Pina Colada Cupcakes, Brownies, Vanilla Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Vanilla Sugar Cookies, Carrot Cake Cupcakes, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Dipped Pretzels.

Baptism Cookies

I had the honor of making a set of cookies for a very special little boy in order to celebrate a very special day in his young life.

Baby M is blessed to have a wonderful and loving family.
In honor of his Baptism, his mother wanted a set of cookies on a stick for favors, but that would also double as the centerpieces for the event. I'm so happy I was able to be part of their special day!

We decided on baby-themed cookies in the white with light blue outline for each cookies.
I made:
Baby Carriages
Crosses
Bears
Onesies
Monogram Cookies
Here are the pictures of what I was able to deliver to them.
