A Very Bubble Guppies Birthday

If you all follow this blog, you know that when my children (including my niece and nephew) make a special request for their birthday, I always try my best to get the job done.

For my Nephew's 2nd Birthday, My sister told me that it would be a

"Bubble Guppies Birthday Party"

Complete with a "Bubble Guy" entertainer.

So I went right to work looking up ideas to create a dessert table fit for a Prince, I mean 'Merboy'. And I found a million Ideas on Pinterest....

For the cake, I made a Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cake as the bottom layer and a Cinnamon Streusel top layer.
Decorated the whole cake with blue Vanilla Buttercream and Blue Fondant 'Wave' decor.

For the decor, I attached Bubble Guppies characters made out of Wafer paper and made with edible ink.
I also added Brown Sugar 'Sand' and Fondant seashells, starfish and sand dollars with some green royal icing seaweed.

Clamshell Snickerdoodle cookies also adorned the table with Royal Icing holding the Bubblegum 'Pearl.

Excuse the fuzzy picture. I also made Banana Upside-down Muffin Sand Castles with little paper flags. Laying in the Brown Sugar 'Sand' were Vanilla Sugar cookie and Royal Icing Sand Dollars.

The Bubble Guppies also made an appearance on the Sugar Cookies decorated with Wafer Paper and Royal Icing Border.

The 'Bubble Guppies' Dessert Table was a Success. I think everyone enjoyed the tasty creations made for his birthday.

Also included on the table were:
Cake Pops
#2 and letter 'A' sugar cookies
And the SMASH cake for the birthday boy.

Popcorn & More Popcorn Cookies and a Great New Book

I have the most fun when asked to make cookies for a special birthday. Especially when the birthday is for little ones.

A co-worker of mine asked me to make a set of cookies for her son's 'Carnival'-Themed Birthday. I showed her some different designs and she said that the party was actually turning into a "Popcorn" Party. LOL!!!!

I turned to my trusty set of Cookie Bloggers and found a great idea on http://bakeat350.blogspot.com/

I think I've mentioned before how GREAT Bridget is. Her blog is informative, yet she is funny and witty and so cookie smart.

When she announced that she was releasing a book, I jumped onto Amazon and pre-ordered it. I read it from cover to cover within a few hours. It is such a great book, not only for the novice cookie maker (like me), but also for the more seasoned cookie maker.

Anyway.... Her book would make a GREAT gift, for Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary or just a simple Thank you!!!!

Here are the popcorn cookies I made inspired by Bridget's popcorn cookie idea....

Happy Birthday to my friend L's son!!! I hope his party was a blast and that he liked his 'Popcorn' Carnival Cookies....

Oh, and don't forget to get Bridget's Book:
She has written a great post about her wonderful, wonderful book:  http://bakeat350.blogspot.com/2012/10/decorating-cookies.html

Have a said how wonderful it is????

Thomas the Train Cookies

I had the honor of being asked to make several very special cookies for a special little boy.

He is a big Thomas the Train fan and his mother was making his special birthday EXTRA special by doing it Thomas the Train themed.

While doing my research online for ideas, I came across another fellow baker from NY, "The Baking Sheet". She makes amazing cookies and cakes. She can be found at Thebakingsheet.blogspot.com

Her great idea incorporated two cookies to make the Thomas more 3-Dimensional.

I grabbed my cookie cutters, made some dough and went ahead and tried it out.

I think they came out great. I love the details that he has from the front view instead of the side view. It was great to start off with two different cookies and then see the transformation of how it all came together.

I was very excited to complete these cookies and I hope that I made his birthday just a little more special by creating something especially for him.

Prince First Birthday Cookies

I have a co-worker who had a great idea. She has a friend who's son was turning '1' year old. In addition to the standard gifts, she also wanted to present her friend with a set of cookies that would be either offered to the guests or placed on a dessert table.

After offering some designs, she decided she liked the crown design, as the theme for the birthday was 'Birthday Prince'.

This is the cookie design we came up with together:

She told me that everyone loved them and that they matched the decor and the theme perfectly.

I'm so happy that I was able to make his day just a little more special. What a nice surprise for the family!!!!

Pirate Party Birthday Cookies

I was asked to make a set of very special cookies for a very special little boy having his 1st birthday. I was so excited to make them that I jumped at the chance.
His parents are good friends of mine and my best cookie and cake clients. I will always be grateful to them for their support.

It was a Pirate-Themed 1st Birthday party!!! The invites had a wonderful picture of the birthday boy in a pirate's costume and some skull and crossbones decorated the front and back.

I remember seeing some very cute Pirate Boy Cookies  on Sugarbelle's site and went searching for her wonderful and always informative and helpful blog post.

Although I didn't have an ornament cookie cutter, I thought a balloon one would do just fine and I started planning. While planning, I also came across a skull and crossbones cookie cutter and my local Chef Central store and I was ready.

Armed with my Mixer and lots of sketches and notes, I started making and baking and here is the final product:

I added the small, cute, little #1 cookies to each bag.

I hope to make these again. They were a lot of fun to make.

Happy Birthday Baby M!!!
I hope you enjoyed your day!!!!

UFC Cookies

Calling All UFC Fans....

These cookies were made for my best friend's husband who is an  'Ultimate Fighting Champion' Fan.

The design was simple enough, but the cookies were cut into the hexagon shape, as I didn't have a cutter in that shape.

I hope he liked them and that he shared some with his
UFC-loving buddies...

and came up with these:
