Sun cookies - Tutorial

I was so happy to have been a part of a set of pretty sun cookies for a Baby Shower my cousin was hosting.

When I say pretty, I mean, pretty.... Bows and Eyelashes pretty...

My cousin sent me a picture of a gorgeous set of cookies made by The Baking Sheet and I was inspired.

In order to make these beautiful cookies, I had to sketch them out and then make my plan.

Items needed:
  • Favorite sugar cookie recipe
  • Sun cookie cutter and Circle cookie cutter
  • Royal icing for piping and flooding in Yellow
  • Airbrush machine with Airbrush color Orange
  • Royal icing for piping and flooding in Pink
  • Leaf icing tip
  • Royal icing for piping in Black
  • Disco dust

Thank you to The Baking Sheet for the Wonderful inspiration and to SugarBelle for her great Bow tutorial...

I'm thrilled with how they turned out!

Try them yourself!!!!

Special Crosses

While at CookieCon, I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friendly with one of the presenters. Her name is Lisa from http://thebearfootbaker.com/ and she is the sweetest, nicest, sweetest person ever ... I think I said sweetest already.

Lisa gave an amazing presentation about using an airbrush machine for cookies. I know for a fact that many women in the room, like me, were completely intimidated by the airbrush machine, but Lisa's presentation was user friendly and completely amazing and took the fear right out of making beautiful cookies with this machine and this technique.

She was sweet enough to, literally, hang out with us gals for most of the evening talking about cookie theology (if that actually exists) and how we, as cookie artists, need to value our hard work.  Her information was so helpful and it made me feel better knowing that we all started in the same place when it comes to decorating.

I told you she was amazing, right?

When I got home, I was lucky enough to find a SUPER sale online for a Duff airbrush. I ordered it and was very excited to start using it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to the story about the Cross Cookies. My sister and my brother-in-law dedicated my niece and nephew, to their church, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful ceremony and my niece and nephew looked beautiful. As a special addition, I made cookies in the shape of the cross and I airbrushed the pink and sky blue Amerimist colors on them when the cookies dried.

I love the affect the airbrush made on the cookies.

I'm so grateful to have been present for Lisa's airbrush demo and for having the opportunity to use an airbrush machine at CookieCon. Her information was helpful and completely invaluable. She was patient with us and allowed me to ask a million questions.

Thanks Lisa!!!!!

Pink/Brown Baby Shower Cookies

It's been sometime since my last post. I had some baking projects completed, took pictures of them and then went on vacation with my hubby and the kids...

While I was away, I was itching to bake some more and also post the pics of the cute things I made. And now I'm back and ready to back and post again...

The one request, with this baby shower cookie set, was that the colors be Pink and Brown with polka-dots. I had so much fun mixing and matching designs.

I think the colors are so chic for a shower. I think they came out great!

I also surprised her with a few dots made into hearts....

Many Blessings to you, D!!!! Congratulations again!!!!
